Using MOVIE-ADE

Recording

Record the built-in browser, an entire screen, or another window. Talk, circle, and type while you use the page.

#Choose what to record

In Feedback mode, click Choose recording target. The Recording Target dialog offers:

TargetCaptured
Built-in Browser (default)Video, voice, pen and text, plus URL, element selectors, clicks, and scrolls. No OS permission needed.
Entire ScreenVideo, voice, pen and text. No URL, element, or action log (this is noted in feedback.md).
WindowSame as above. MOVIE-ADE's own windows are not listed.

Your choice is remembered. On macOS, screen and window capture require Screen Recording permission (how to grant it).

#Start, pause, stop

  1. Open the page to review in the built-in browser.
  2. Record in the title bar, or ⌘⇧R / CtrlShiftR.
  3. Pause stops drawing and the timer. Resume continues.
  4. Stop or ⌘⇧R again.

A recording is capped at 90 minutes. You get a warning near the limit, and the recording stops and saves automatically when it is reached.

Feedback mode toolbar

#Pen and text

  • Pen: select it, or hold ⌥ / Alt to draw only while held (ignored while typing in a field).
  • Text: click the page, type, then Enter to place it. ShiftEnter adds a line break and Esc cancels.
  • Clear: removes the current marks.

The tools are available only while recording. With the microphone off, text alone is enough to create findings.

#When marks disappear

Marks belong to the screen they were drawn on. They are recorded into the current finding, then cleared, when:

  • the page navigates: a full load, or an SPA route change to a new path or query. A hash-only change keeps them.
  • you scroll the page
  • a spoken segment ends

#Microphone

The microphone is on by default. Toggle it from the footer (Turn microphone off / Turn microphone on) or with Record my voice in Settings. Choose a device under Microphone.

Coming soon

Record the other side too (capturing other participants in a meeting via system audio) is in beta. It has not been validated with meeting apps yet.
